Our Appointment system

In 2002 we changed our appointment system to reduce waiting times and to ensure we always have enough appointments to match your needs.  Patient feedback suggests that you are generally satisfied with what we have on offer.  In 2008 we extended our appointment hours (under government pressure) and have yet to find out how successful this will be.

What does it mean for you the patient?

We will give you a 10 minute appointment within 24 hours of you requesting it. If possible it will be with the doctor of your choice.

How do I make an appointment?

Make an appointment in the usual way, our receptionist will book you an appointment within the next 24 hours. At times it may be helpful to see the nurse and not the doctor. (Ask the receptionist what she thinks and see the list of things a nurse can help with.

What if I want an appointment next week?

You can book an appointment for next week, but remember we guarantee you an appointment the same day and would prefer not to fill up the slots in advance.

Which doctor?

We would like you to try and see the same doctor each time so please ask the receptionist to find an appointment with the doctor you usually see.  Please remember that all doctors at Jiggins Lane Medical Centre teach students and some are part time. You may need to see somebody else if your chosen doctor is not available in the next 24 hours.

Who is my registered doctor?

Well it doesn't really matter, we take no notice of the name on the form and suggest that you get to know one doctor and see them whenever possible.
